NPC Action Editor
JA2 Desktop Version 1.00

Description

This program will allow you to modify actions performed by NPCs.  With some research and patients, you can create an NPC that will; communicate with the player, receive or give and object, perform actions based on objects or player response, and/or move around a sector map.

Note: It has been found that NPCs in JA2UB will not respond correctly to movement actions.

Requirements

Although you may create an NPC Action File from the provided "blank" templates (by selecting NEW), it is highly recommended that you view and study an existing NPC's Action File by extracting it from the NPC_DATA.SLF file.  In some cases, it is easier to modify an existing file than create a new one from scratch.

Instructions

1. Select a New NPC File or Open an Existing NPC File.  NPC files have an extension of ".npc"
2. Use the Blue Arrow Buttons on the Task bar to navigate from record to record.
3. Some fields in each record contain "Drop Down Menus", these menus will provide "known" options for the particular field.
4. Entering Invalid data in a field may "crash" the program.
5. To find additional discussion on the options available for .npc files, please refer to the Lords of the Bytes Forum.
6. Save the file by selecting "File/Save" or clicking the "Save" button.
